FARM GATE TO PLATE – This is how we describe it!
In March 2007 at the Food Show in Christchurch, Sue & Gus officially launched the brand “Waitaki Bacon & Ham” to the public – this has been followed by regular attendance the Farmers Market in Dunedin, Christchurch and Queenstown. Supply of the product to customers now ranges from Auckland to Gore.

April 2008 we attended once again the Food Show in Christchurch and this time launched the “Naked Pork” range and Lauraine Jacobs, who was at the time the Food Editor of Cuisine magazine, selected our Waitaki Streaky Bacon & Schnitzel to cook up a storm and Raymond McVinnie cooked a loin roast on his famous Barbeque.
Fine Food New Zealand - June 2010. Waitaki Bacon & Ham will be at New Zealand's First International food and hospitality event, in Auckland.
Waitaki Bacon & Ham has been featured in the Otago Slow Food Cook book, Star Otago farmers Cook Book, articles in the Dominion Post, Press, Oamaru Mail & CRT Magazine increasing the awareness of this fantastic "gourmet boutique bacon focus”- as well as our other fine products.

Gus and Sue at Waitaki Bacon & Ham have been involved in the farming industry for 25 years and have been raising quality pork on their farm for the last 20 years.Growth hormones and promoters can be found in imported pork products into New Zealand but Waitaki Bacon & Ham take pride in never using these methods.
Waitaki Bacon & Ham products are produced according to New Zealand's Animal Welfare Code of Welfare 2005 and we are compliant with New Zealand's strigent food safety standards.
The Mortons stand behind in the quality of their products, stating that nutrition, genetics and healthy environments are fundamental elements in creating a high quality well proportioned animal. - The animal nutritionist plans for the requirements of the animal at growth stages to ensure energy and protein requirements are met, creating the consistency and high quality standard of meat delivery to the customer.
- Growth is also maximised by the genetic mix of their sows which has been developed over the last 15 years and the cleanliness of the environment in which they grow.
- Waitaki Bacon & Ham offers the ability to have specified cuts of meat and transportation is carefully managed to ensure that quality is never jeopardised.
